Replace one machine without losing the line boundary

A single-machine purchase still needs an upstream and downstream fit review.

Describe the module being replaced

Record its actual task, input/output condition, demonstrated operating range and recurring limitations. Include drawings and current interfaces. Matching an old motor rating or nozzle size alone is not a replacement specification.

Expose the transfer interfaces

Specify feed control, product outlet, rejected material, buffer working range and pressure or gravity conditions. Assign who supplies and validates pumps, valves, pipework and sampling. Existing equipment must meet the new conditions, not merely connect mechanically.

Check shared controls and utilities

Document interlocks, levels, alarms, off-condition handling and responsibility for software changes. Confirm available services during simultaneous operation and cleaning. Name utility quality and supply conditions rather than assuming a nominal plant pressure is always available.

Commission the complete boundary

Agree a representative material run through the retained and new equipment. Check start/stop, usable output, quality and cleaning release across the interfaces. Record any temporary workaround and unresolved duty before treating the replacement as accepted.
